Chelsea's Mourinho named best coach in Premier League by world body

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has been named as the best club coach in world football by IFFHS for 2014. The former Chelsea coach beat off a number of top managers to receive the award for the first time since 2007. His successor at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho had to settle for 4th spot after he failed to win any silverware in the last calendar year.
Ancelotti was named as the best coach by IFFHS after experts voted from 60 countries. Ancelotti during his first season in charge of Real Madrid won the Champions League, Copa del Rey and the UEFA Super Cup, although he missed on a treble by failing to win La Liga. This was the Spanish side’s 10th Champions League title and victory finally ended their long wait to get La Decima.

Ancelotti was followed by his city rival Diego Simone who led Atletico Madrid to the Spanish league title last season. Bayern Munich coach Josep Guardiola mad up the top three after his side won the Bundesliga and their domestic cup competition.

Despite not winning anything last season Mourinho was still voted 4th in the list ahead of the likes of Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini. The Chilean guided Manchester City to the Premier League title but Mourinho was still voted ahead of him which could be because of the start Chelsea have had this season. The club are currently five points ahead of Manchester City and Mourinho looks on course to win his third league title with Chelsea. The London club have reached the Capital One Cup Final and they have also qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
