Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has not spoken to David de Gea 'for months'. Despite reports indicating the Spaniard was close to signing a new contract with United, Spanish sports daily AS claim De Gea is experiencing a 'poor relationship' with Van Gaal.
Mendes recently confirmed he was negotiating a new De Gea deal with United.
De Gea, arguably United's player of the season so far, is out of contract at United next year and supporters are desperate for him to sign an extension.
The 24-year-old is the only member of United's squad to have started every game under Van Gaal, despite former Barcelona 'keeper Victor Valdes arriving in January.
Despite pulling off some truly memorable saves in victories this term, Van Gaal recently denied De Gea had saved United points.
“I think he doesn't save many points because he is my goalkeeper and his obligation is to hold balls," the Dutchman said.
“And if you are thinking that is an exception for other goalkeepers and it is not like that, I am sorry for that.”
