Nigeria: Bloodbath In Akwa Ibom, Rivers State Governoship Election

One wonders why the indigene of Akwa Ibom State, who are known for their peaceful disposition, would think of hurting one another. One wonders what lead to the people thinking along ethnic lines today, taking up arms against their brothers. Why would position and money tear the bond that once existed among the people. Who is responsible for this screaming headline on leading television stations nationwide?
An average Akwa Ibomite is known to be a peace maker, social, down-to-earth, known for humility in the face of unwanted circumstance. Known to accommodate anything thrown at him. Known to be contented in wherever fate keeps him. Where comes war in one of the peaceful places on earth.

How and when desperation, become the lifestyle of some elements in Akwa Ibom. to the extent of souls perishing on election day, is a worrying trend and if not checked, can be so caster strophic that it may be late to control.

Will the eventual winner govern the state with his conscience in good stead? Will he be able to sleep and wake up well, for the four years. Will the souls of those perished not cry for justices daily? Will the families of the departed ever remain the same? Will Akwa Ibom ever return to one indivisible State, devoid of ethnic cleavages. I hope the perpetrators of these heinous crimes know exactly what they are doing.

Meanwhile, more than twenty-three people were murdered  in election related fracas. Thirteen of the people were killed in Buguma and ten persons were cut down in Omoku. Policemen were not left out in the casualties.
