More than 300 militants have been killed, defence spokesman Chris Olukolade said in a statement. "The cordon and search operations are continuing with tanks in the towns of Monguno, Gabchari, Abba Jabari, Zuntur, Gajigana, Gajiram, Damakar, Kumaliwa, Bosso Wanti, Jeram and Kabrisungul," Olukolade said, adding that two Nigerian soldiers lost their lives and 10 were injured.
The claim cannot be verified, but other countries fighting against Boko Haram - Niger, Chad and Cameroon - made similar statements.
